Healing Out Loud: Coping Strategies for the Learning Team (Member)

"Healing Out Loud" is all about demonstrating healthy coping strategies and modeling self-care in a turbulent world when others may feel lost or alone. In addition to regular life stresses and challenges, the COVID pandemic and its required changes to our daily lives have added additional challenges to our clinicians and learners. Our clinics have been turned upside down and we are now struggling to find our "new normal". This presentation will explore how our needs have changed as physical therapists, clinical instructors, and SCCEs while noting the evolving needs of our physical therapy trainees.

Learning Objectives

• Objective 1- Course participants will learn of the importance of sharing their individual stories and in hearing/listening to others.
• Objective 2 - Course participants will be introduced to definitions and terms to better understand emotional granularity.
• Objective 3 - Course participants will participate in small/large group discussion to share strategies for self-care and ways of encouraging affective domain discussions in their clinics/education environments.
• Objective 4 - Course participants will learn of personal and evidence-based strategies for our instructors and students for improved relationships in our educational environments.
• Objective 5 - Course participants will reflect on and evaluate potential barriers and strategies to overcome these barriers for implementation of healing out loud and vulnerability in the educational environments
